global Food Security Cluster Annual Report 2022

A constrained, yet successful, response to food crises at their record-highs

2022 marked an alarming turning point in the rapid escalation of food crises globally and raised unprecedented challenges for humanitarian partners to assist affected populations.

Hunger spread at an alarming pace and providing humanitarian assistance became significantly more expensive in 2022 and food security partners saw their capacities to assist significantly hampered by the exponential surge in operational costs.

Nonetheless, the Food Security Cluster, co-led by FAO and WFP, actively scaled up the response to emergencies and contributed in protecting food crises in 30 countries, enhancing active collaboration among a wide network of partners, composed of renowned international, national and local organizations.
