Heavy rainfall causes flooding across the Sahel
During much of July, rainfall was above average across much of West Africa with the heaviest rainfall totals recorded in Guinea-Conakry, Sierra Leone, and southern Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Chad. The increased rainfall has caused flooding in Guinea-Conakry, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Nigeria. Last week, flooding was reported in southern Niger and Chad. Meanwhile, rainfall was below-average in northern Senegal,
western Mali, parts of Burkina Faso, and western central parts of Nigeria.
