FOOD SECURITY SECTOR SO1 GAP ANALYSIS - NOVEMBER 2019

During November 2019, the sector partners assisted around 1.5 million individuals with food assistance (through in-kind distribution or cash/vouchers) in the three most affected north-east states of Nigeria. The largest gap identified remains in Adamawa State, followed by Yobe State and Borno State. Given the recent interaction between the military and humanitarians, which created uncertainties around the use of cash/voucher modality for food assistance, the sector continues sensitizing partners to ensuring their vendors are aware of the complexities and risks of operating in a highly militarized environment and performing adequate due diligence in the selection of vendors and transporters. Food assistance in informal settlements in urban areas as well as wet feeding support for new arrivals in field locations remain a gap due to limited partner capacities and funding support.
