In October 2023, 1.6 million people were assisted with emergency food assistance, out of which 978 thousand people were reached through cash modality and 658 thousand people with in-kind modality; while 399 thousand people were reached with agricultural livelihoods support out of which 178 thousand people were reached through cash modality and 221 thousand people with in-kind modality in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states.
About 4.4 million people in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states are projected to be food insecure in the lean season of 2024, according to the October 2023 Cadre Harmonise analysis. This also implies that the number of food-insecure people in the three states has consistently been above 4 million since 2020. However, level of severity has improved over the past 4 years.
