Borno and Yobe States Monthly Market Monitoring Report February 2021

Highlights


• Prices of staple food commodities including ground nut, maize flour, local and imported rice showed stable trends or slight increases in Borno and Yobe states over the last three months, while red beans increased considerably. The increase in prices is attributed to decreased commodity supply.


• The cost of the 70 percent of the Survival Minimum Expenditure Basket (SMEB) for a family of five increased slightly from 20,367 Naira (January) to 20,650 Naira (February) in Maiduguri and Jere in Borno State. In the same vein, the SMEB increased by 5 percent from 18,348 Naira (January) to 19,193 Naira (February) in Damaturu, Yobe State.
