The food security and WASH sectors in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, have released a new joint Guidance Note to help FSS partners reduce waste contamination in displacement camps during emergency contexts. Waste management principles govern how to responsibly avoid, reduce, reuse, compost and recycle waste, and the Guidance Note also aims to ensure coordination with operational actors on safely removing waste that does get inevitably introduced while addressing emergency needs, such as during food distributions.
This Note is in line with Site Management and Site Development (SMSD) Sector and Energy and Environment Technical Working Group (EETWG) operational structures and recommendations.
