FAO Agriculture Input and Commodity Price Bulletin - November 2023

Key Highlights; 

  • The Prime Minister office endorsed the new prices for subsidized fertilizers, which will be delivered to farmers by the Agricultural Cooperative Bank (ACB). The newly set price reflects a significant increase (almost triple) compared to last season. 
  • The ACB launched a new funding arrangement where farmers can get loans for the purposes of buying tractors and agricultural equipment at a value of up to 250 million SYP.
  • The Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform (MAAR) has allowed the import of calves for meat production and heifers for breeding.
  • The General Organization of Fodder (GOF) announced that it intends to buy dried and unpacked maize from farmers at 4.2 million SYP per ton and 
  • The Syrian Council of Ministers has approved a restricted allowance for exporting 5 000 tons of olive oil from local varieties.
