Food Security Sector SO2 Gap Analysis – May 2022

livelihoods interventions in the three most affected North-East states. This implies there is a significant agricultural livelihoods gaps in BAY states. The gap in agriculture livelihood support is about 3.2 million people.

The Food Security Sector continued to coordinate government and non-government partners under the respective leadership of the Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states, to ensure harmonization, and avoid duplication while supporting households with crop inputs for the upcoming rain season.

Despite the relative increase in access to land for production in the upcoming season as reported by communities and food security actors (including in some garrison towns), the number of farmer households being targeted for the upcoming rain season support is reducing, as compared to previous years. This is largely due to resource constraints. The Sector continues to advocate for more investment in agricultural livelihoods activities, while ensuring targeting vulnerable households that at least have access to land and labor capacities to produce. This will significantly contribute to strengthening the resilience of the vulnerable households.
