Food Security Sector Dashboard - November 2021

During November 2021, about 1,906,363 beneficiaries were supported with Emergency Food Assistance, and 1,327,499 with Agricultural Livelihoods Support. There remains a gap of approximately 1.5 million unassisted people for food assistance and about 1.8 million for Agricultural Livelihoods. As a result of the increased needs in 2021 and gaps in funding, WFP will Scale down in Borno and Yobe from 1.7 M Oct to 1.4 M Nov. and 1.1 M Dec. There will also be a reduction of ration size from 100% to 70% in all GDF in-kind locations. Some INGO partners have also reported not being able to provide the recommended 70% food basket cost through Cash Voucher Assistance and will have to reduce it to 50% due to funding gaps.

The Humanitarian Situation Monitoring in Inaccessible areas -November 2021 is led by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) and supported by partners. Findings revealed both crude and under-five mortality rates were above the emergency threshold The elevated levels of consumption gaps, malnutrition, mortality, and pervasive usage of emergency coping strategies, is largely underscored by the limited availability of food stocks, restricted access to functional markets, and water, health and sanitation services, which might heighten morbidity risk and impact households' ability to engage in labor for food or resource gathering.

The Sector continues to advocate for all actors to coordinate with the various sectors in the joint sectoral implementation of various activities whenever feasible.
