Food Security Sector Dashboard - March 2021

During March 2021, about 1.7 million of them were supported with Emergency Food Assistance, and 368,252 Agricultural Livelihoods Support. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD) and partners concluded the preparations for the March 2021 round of the Cadre Harmonise (CH). In this current period (March 2021) 3.2 million people are food insecure in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States (BAY states), with a projected increase to 4.4 million people during the lean season (June – August). However, out of over 1.5 million people in acute food insecurity during the current period in Borno state—over 650,000 (almost 43 percent) are situated in partially or completely inaccessible communities.  The food security sector is working closely with all the stakeholders to avert possible catastrophic food insecurity and livelihood deterioration given the significant deterioration in the food security situation similar to the 2016/17 trend, which was the peak of food insecurity.
