COVID-19 has become a global epidemic in which some of Vanuatu's neighbors have reported confirmed cases over the last few days. As the world battles to contain this virus, many countries have gone to total lockdown and have tried to reduce the curve on infected cases and deaths.
Vanuatu is gearing up and preparing itself into trying to prevent the COVID-19 from entering Vanuatu and also if a case is reported, will try to contain it. As of 10 am (Vanuatu time) 26th March 2020, the President of Vanuatu His Excellency Pastor Moses Talis has declared a state of emergency. The FSAC is working closely with NDMO and other clusters in planning towards this new type of disaster never experienced before.
