FSS WoS Sector Mid-Year Review: Presentation and Dataset 2021

  • The WoS secretariat conducted a review on the sector’s acute PIN figures for HNO FSS 2021 with consultations across the three hubs consisting of hub sector/cluster coordinators, information management officers, and two organizations across each of the hubs invited to review the methodology and assess the findings.
  • From secondary data analysis, an estimated 12.8 million people were estimated to be food insecure in Syria in July 2021, up from 12.4 million people in November 2020. 60.5% of Syrians are understood to be food insecure compared to 59.5% in November 2020. At-risk food insecure number (At-risk PiN) remains the same (HNO 2021 figures) with no updated changes to the number at 1.8 million. The overall number of People in Need is estimated to have increased by 400,000 people (from 14.2 million to 14.6 million).
  • As noted at the MYR validation workshop this was a light update only making use of secondary data as it is a MYR. We expect a much more reliable and accurate update when the FSA-FSLA 2021 is completed by end November. However, in the meantime this MYR is the main guide until FSA/FSLA 2021 is completed.
