Afghanistan Flash Appeal (September - December 2021)

Forty years of war, recurrent natural disasters, chronic poverty, drought and the COVID-19 pandemic have left 18.4 million people in need of
humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan. Recent escalations in conflict and have exacerbated needs and complicated an extremely challenging operational context.

Over 12 million Afghans- more than 30% of the population - are currently in Crisis or worse (IPC 3 and above) levels of food insecurity.

This Flash Appeal requests $270 million for the Food Security and Agriculture Sector for 10.8 million people until December2021.

$202 million is already costed within 2021 HRP, while $67 million is needed to address new emerging needs and changes in operating contexts.
