- At national level, there are 3,145 COVID-19 cases, with 103 deaths as at May 07, 2020
- Lockdowns continue to affect the market operations in different parts of the country.
- Staple food market prices had increased for various reasons including panic buying as a result of the
lockdowns in various parts of the country and increase in demand for food as a result of the Ramadhan
season. This coupled with majority of low-income earning households not being able to generate income
during the lockdown period, food gaps increased. Thus, the meeting and the subject under discussion
deserves the attention of all stakeholders in the food and nutrition security system.
