Partners in Borno State assisted a total number of 1.4 million people during January 2019, with around 110 thousand in Yobe State and 12,178 in Adamawa State. In response to the sudden influx of displacement into Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Monguno, Konduga and Jere Local Government Areas (LGAs) since the end of 2018, partners scaled up food assistance for the newly displaced. Humanitarian actors complements government efforts, and food assistance is carefully coordinated to avoid duplication. The deteriorating security situation prompted the continued withdrawal of aid workers from areas affected by the conflict in Kukawa and Monguno LGAs during the month and led to disruption of assistance. As of late January, food distributions are suspended in Kukawa and Kala Balge LGAs.
