In November 2023, 1.6 million people were assisted with emergency food assistance, out of which 1.2 million people were reached through cash modality and 232 thousand people with in-kind modality; while 403 thousand people were reached with agricultural livelihoods support out of which 162 thousand people were reached through cash modality and 240 thousand people with in-kind modality in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states.
In BAY states, a total of 4.4 million people are expected to be food insecure during the 2024 lean season, of which 468,981 will be in the “emergency phase” (phase 4). Approximately 495,500 food-insecure people are internally displaced, of which 114,000 are in phase 4. Compared to June-August 2023, the food-insecure population in BAY states increased by 3%. At the same time, the Phase 4 population in the three BAY states declined by 10%, per the November 2023 Cadre Harmonise analysis.
