Food Security Sector Dashboard - February 2022

In February 2022, 1,235,368 people were supported with emergency food assistance, and 252,392 with agricultural livelihoods support in BAY states. According to March 2022 CH around 4.1M needs food assistance and agricultural livelihoods support during the lean/rain Season (May – October 2022) and beyond. Furthermore, the March CH Projection for the lean season indicates a 19% rise in the number of people in need of food assistance, and a 28% increase in the emergency (Phase 4) when compared with October 2021 CH. The prices of food, agricultural inputs, and fuel are increasing, impacting the ability of people in the northeast to procure food which has been observed due to worsening food consumption leading to Negative coping strategies.  Following the increasing number of people in need (PIN) and widening gaps between PIN and people reached, the food security and nutrition task force has been activated for intersectoral action Operational Scale-up Plan for the lean season (May to October 2022).
