The HNO/HRP 2016 calendar was unified for all countries with the launch of all appeals in December 2015. Country-level Food Security Clusters have been working with partners to analyse the magnitude of the crisis and identify the most pressing humanitarian needs for planning the food security response in 2016. In the Humanitarian Response Plans country-level FSC s have identified strategic objectives, including how to respond to the affected population’s assessed and expressed needs.
The 2016 Humanitarian Needs Overview and 2016 Humanitarian Response Plans have been prepared and are available online. Out of a global appeal of US$ 20.1 billion to assist 87.6 million people, Food security is appealing US$ 6.5 billion to assist 55 million people. The global Food Security Cluster presented the 2016 humanitarian appeal and funding requirements at the WFP Operational Briefing on 19 January at WFP in Rome, Italy.
