The Think Protection! tool was developed to incorporate protection into all sectors of humanitarian intervention, including needs assessment and program planning. Girls, women, boys and men, affected by a crisis have the right to participate in humanitarian action. In a crisis situation, a rights-based approach can guide and strengthen the
humanitarian in its various fields. Humanitarian assistance can contribute directly to
application of basic rights related to life and personal security, education, food, housing and mental and physical health. This tool was created to ensure that humanitarian assistance goes beyond basic needs to fulfill human rights.
