Food Security is Deteriorating in Sudan

The 2026 HNRP paints a deeply concerning picture of acute food insecurity across Sudan, reinforcing the scale of the crisis we face:
• Overall PiN: 61.7% of Sudan's population, equivalent to 28,872,672 people, are acutely food insecure and require urgent food and/or livelihoods assistance.
• Severe & Extreme Levels (Levels 4 and 5): 21.8% of the total population, or 10,199,290 people, fall into the severe and extreme categories.
• This includes 1.7% or 817,270 people experiencing extreme food insecurity (Level 5).
