Since January 2018, over 3 million people have been supported with food security interventions within the 2018 HRP. Some 58 per cent received food assistance while 42 per cent were reached with agriculture and livelihood assistance. Guided by food security assessment results, the sector continued the retargeting exercise to ensure the most vulnerable are provided with food assistance and that new vulnerable IDPs are included. In the month of June, the retargeting exercise was completed in nine LGAs in Yobe State and two LGAs in Adamawa State. The exercise in six LGAs in Borno State is almost complete. According to a bi‐weekly market monitoring exercise carried out by partners in 11 markets in Yobe State and eight markets in Maiduguri and Jere LGAs, retail prices of key staple foods increased by more than 10 per cent in June compared to May. This is as a result of the lean season that typically starts in July.
