During August 2018, the FSS partners assisted more than 1.9 million individuals with food assistance (through in-kind distribution or cash transfers) in the three most affected north-east states of Nigeria. Against the 2018 HRP target for Strategic Objective 1 (Food Assistance), in August, partners have reached 51% of the target (3.7 million individuals to be assisted monthly). The largest gap identified is in Adamawa State with approximately 0.8 million beneficiaries not reached; in Yobe State, 0.7 million people were not reached. Borno State recorded smaller gap of 0.2 million, however, needs remain significant at lower administrative/settlement levels, especially as the security situation remains fluid and displacement is ongoing. Provision of necessary emergency food assistance through the most appropriate modalities and harmonized targeting is critical to ensure availability of nutritious foods for the most vulnerable populations.
