Operationalization of Multi-Purpose Cash Grants in the Food Security Sector

Cash & Markets Webinar – 11 April 2-3.30 pm CEST

The gFSC aims to contribute actively to ensure an equal and consistent consideration of cash alongside other forms of humanitarian assistance in the food security sector. Food Security Clusters (FSC) are key drivers to foster the uptake of cash transfers in emergency responses when delivering their core functions.

Acknowledging the multipurpose inherently nature of cash, there is a need of strengthening FSCs ability to engage actively and contribute to jointly identifying critical issues that require multi-sectorial responses like Multi-Purpose Cash Grants (MPCGs).

This webinar is organized by the Cash & Markets WG of the gFSC as part of the webinar series “New Developments and Challenges from a Multi-sectorial/Multi-purpose Perspective” which aims to share lessons learned and best practices to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of FSCs to engage in MPCGs.

Speakers will give examples of operationalization of MPCGs in country with a focus on the calculation of the food security needs.
