Inter-cluster Coordination: Breaking Down Silos

Post date Monday, 27 March, 2017 - 10:23

The Global Cluster Coordinators' Group (GCCG) is pleased to invite you to the first introductory webinar of the series called:

Inter-cluster Coordination: Breaking Down Silos

The role of the inter-cluster coordination group is critical to ensuring a coherent and joined up response across different sectors.  Under the guidance of the HC/HCT, inter-cluster coordination groups have responsibility for supporting cross-sectoral operational and technical coordination and helping ensure an effective response throughout every stage of the program cycle.  But how effective are inter-cluster coordination groups in fulfilling their functions?  Are they achieving joined up analysis and planning? Or are clusters still operating largely in silos?

The Global Cluster Coordinators Group is comprised of the Global Cluster Coordinators and OCHA and are working collaboratively at the global level to help break down silos between clusters and make inter-cluster coordination more effective and responsive to the needs of the HCT, cluster partners and ultimately to people living in crisis settings. The GCCG is launching a webinar series, accompanied by tip sheets, focusing on critical areas of inter-cluster coordination, such as protection mainstreaming and joint analysis. The objective is to share best practices, lessons learned and to hear from field colleagues about what is working well on inter-cluster coordination and what needs to improve.

The first in the series will be focused on general inter-cluster coordination issues.

The Inter-cluster Coordination: Breaking Down Silos webinar series aims to provide a platform for good practice and great ideas on how to make coordination better can be shared widely amongst inter-cluster coordination group members, cluster members, and humanitarian operational actors.  The webinar series invites current field-based cluster coordinators and inter-cluster coordinators together with a Global Cluster Coordinator to provide practical, constructive suggestions around a range of ICC topics that can be taken back and applied in daily coordination work.
