The Central African Republic

Over the past weeks and especially from 5 December, the intensification of violence and a shift to a more sectarian and communal conflict in Bangui and other major towns has further exacerbated an already dramatic humanitarian situation in the Central African Republic (CAR). As a result, there is an increasing need for an immediate scaling up of the capacity of response.

The Food Security Cluster in Bangui has been actively working in the last weeks and frequent cluster and inter-cluster meetings are taking place in these days to coordinate assessments, response plans, and information sharing.

The team is being further strengthened with the support of food security cluster partners and both lead agencies.

dedicated CAR webpage has been activated and it is being constantly updated for information sharing purposes. You will find there the minutes of the cluster meetings and the latest assessments as well as other reference documents.
